Assertive to Optative
Optative Sentence : যে Sentence দ্বারা কোনো ইচ্ছা, আকাঙ্খা, প্রার্থনা ইত্যাদি প্রকাশ পায়, তাকে Optative Sentence বলে।
যেমন :
Long
live our president.
May he not suffer.
May Allah bless you.
May God
speed up your recovery.
May Allah help you.
Rule - 1
Assertive Sentence কে Optative Sentence এ রূপান্তর করতে বাক্যের শুরুতে May ব্যবহার করে তারপর Subject বসাতে হয়। তারপর প্রধান ক্রিয়া ব্যবহার করতে হয়।
Structure
May + Subject + Verb + ____
উদাহরণ :
Assertive : You will succeed in life.
Optative : May you succeed in life.
Assertive : I wish that you will be happy.
Optative : May you be happy.
Assertive Sentence এ ব্যবহৃত Subject + helping verb তুলে দিতে হয়।
Assertive : I wish that Allah bless you.
Optative : May Allah bless you.
Rule - 2
Assertive Sentence-এ "I wish" থাকলে এবং তা দিয়ে কোনো অবাস্তব ইচ্ছা বা আকাঙ্ক্ষা বোঝালে, Optative করার সময় বাক্যের শুরুতে If, Would that, O that বা Had বসাতে হয়।
Structure
If / Would that + Subject + were/could + ____ !
বা, Had + Subject + extension !
উদাহরণ :
Assertive : I wish I were a king.
Optative : If I were a king! / Would that I were a king!
Assertive : I wish I could fly in the sky.
Optative : If I could fly in the sky!
Assertive : I wish I had the wings of a bird.
Optative : Had I the wings of a bird!
Rule - 3
কিছু ক্ষেত্রে প্রার্থনা বা দীর্ঘায়ু কামনা বোঝাতে May-এর পরিবর্তে বাক্যের শুরুতে Long live ব্যবহৃত হয়।
Structure
Long live + Subject / Noun
উদাহরণ :
Assertive : I wish that our country will live long.
Optative : Long live our country.
Assertive : We pray that our president lives long.
Optative : Long live our president.
Optative to Assertive
Rule - 1
May দিয়ে শুরু হওয়া Optative Sentence-কে Assertive করতে হলে শুরুতে Subject (সাধারণত I/We) + wish / pray বসে। তারপর Optative-এর Subject বসে এবং May/Might + মূল Verb থেকে বাকি অংশ বসে।
Structure
Subject + wish/pray + that (ঐচ্ছিক) + Subject + may/might + Verb + ____
উদাহরণ :
Optative : May Bangladesh prosper day by day.
Assertive : We wish that Bangladesh may prosper day by day.
Optative : May your father recover soon.
Assertive : I wish/pray that your father might recover soon.
Rule - 2
If, Had, O that, বা Would that দিয়ে শুরু হওয়া Optative Sentence-কে Assertive করতে হলে শুরুতে Subject + wish বসে এবং এরপর উক্ত শব্দগুলো (If, Had ইত্যাদি) উঠে গিয়ে বাক্যের বাকি অংশ বসে।

Subject + wish + Subject + were/could/had + ____
উদাহরণ :
Optative : If I were a child again!
Assertive : I wish I were a child again.
Optative : Would that I could be a player!
Assertive : I wish I could be a player.
Optative : Had I been a rich man!
Assertive : I wish I had been a rich man.
